Colorado Dwarf Cars Win the 2011 CDC vs SRDCC Mini-Series!!!

What an interesting and hard fought battle took place on Saturday, July 9th. Colorado Dwarf Cars were out for revenge as Southern Rockies Dwarf Car Club soundly beat CDC in the 2010 Mini Series. Points are only earned in the mini-series if a racer participates in both races in the 2 race mini-series.

CDC dominated Race #1 at El Paso County Speadway on May 7th. CDC had a commanding points lead going into Race #2 which was at Thunder Valley Speedway on July 9th. CDC even added an additional 7 more points to their lead after the heat races on July 9th.

But then what could go wrong did go wrong.....

With a commanding 146 to 81 point lead going into the last chance that SRDCC had to beat CDC and keep the Series Trophy.....here is what happened that melted CDC's 65 point lead:

- Rob Kellogg (0c) loses a drive line in the Trophy Dash and spins and gets hit by the SRDCC 72 car. The 72 car gets the "Ride of the Night Award" for flipping thru the air 3 times and landing on it's wheels.

Rob is done for the night and did not race in the main event.

- Ren Johnson (88c) battles hard in the main event with SRDCC's Ryan Gilliland (17) and makes the pass into 2nd place only to have the turn 4 water barrel jump out and grab Ren breaking his steering rack.

Ren is done for the night.

- Justin Clemans (12c) does a tremendous job the entire night being fast and consistent and making great passes on a track he had never raced on. Unfortunately Justin's radiator hose pops off.

Justin is done for the night.

-Randy Baker (95c) and Fred Schneider (11c) are battling hard for 2nd and 4th place with Ryan Gilliland (17) and Brock Bagwell (6b). Randy's fuel line pops off causing him to slow drastically as the engine shuts off coming out of turn 4. Brock hits Randy and Fred hits Brock causing Fred's roof and rear window panels to fly off the car and the car turns 180 degrees to face the oncoming traffic. Fred breaks a shock, tie rod, upper control arm, 2 heims and sheet metal damage.

Randy and Fred are done for the night.

Fortunately Harry Baker (13c) and John Schneider (00c) carried the team on their shoulders and finished 4th and 6th securing a slim but well earned victory of 21 points over SRDCC!

Colorado Dwarf Cars - 201 points
Souther Rockies Dwarf Car Club - 189 points
